Subdivision III/III in Hungarian communist state security comprised of ordinary citizens whose purpose was to report on “perilous” artists and intellectuals. Oppression, power, control and fear is pervasive whenever it occurs. During such times our inner light is the only comfort. Pictures of light were projected inside the walls of a 3×3 structure to guide the constructed weaving of a 3-dimensional object, as a manifestation of the protection that the unseen light and unheard music in one’s mind can provide.
I aim to disclose petrified biases and the absurdity of power structures. By mapping out strategies to resist oppression of any kind, I seek possibilities of change from within. To highlight the necessity of collectively taking responsibility I examine domestic relations just as global politics.
This project was an attempt to capture and solidify light, transfer it into paint and then make it 3 dimensional in yarn, so the volatile will become permanent.
