We hand-sculpt all our hats at our workshop. We love the freedom of the hand-built crowns to make something differently perfect. We are delighted in every single angle of these precisely formed hats. This is hat is a unisex wear.
Named after Benedetto Croce, the philosopher who established the theory of aesthetic expressivism. While his ideas were further developed or even debated that art only expressed emotions (and I also would debate that), he gave a nice structor to guide our points of views where art must originate in our life (or in our brain). He described our brain’s movements as a tree where branches can be clearly defined where choices are made towards practical or theoretical thinking. The theoretical mind then further divided into logical or aesthetical means. Then the branch of logic, driven by the truth, grows two ways, what is useful (economics) and what is good (morals); and the aesthetic, driven by beauty, splits between history and intuitions. He believed art is the only thing in life that gives us ground to internally grow and improve. And from here, we can start to examin art.
This hat, named after him, grew out organically from its fedora shape into an undefined branch, showing something had started to develop out of a previously defined perception, the common visual perception of a fedora, giving the crown a sense of a sprout.
Choose your ribbon, let me know your hat size, and a hat will be built for you, if this exact one won’t fit. We believe in slow fashion, and these hats will age beautifully to become vintage one day, their quality is outstanding. Can be constructed with a hand-dyed, hand printed Japanese silk lining and a kangaroo leather sweatband that we also make ourselves at our studio in the magical Hills of Perth, Western Australia.
