Bespoke – Beaver Fur Hats

The best and most durable hats are made of beaver fur. Sustainably sourced high quality beaver fur hat bases from the US (heavy weight and sturdy) and from Europe (light and soft) are available at Felt Nomad studio. We hand-sculpt all our hats here in Western Australia. That gives us the freedom that with our experience and with your preferences we can personalise a hat for you.

Hats had always shown the status, the occupation and cultural statements of the person who wore it. We find sketches on rocks from the stone-age where people wore hats, the oldest felted hats that are remained for us to see are 3500 years old and by then the craft of hat-making was mastered. With the recent mass production of hats one of the oldest craft had lost its real purpose: to introduce the individual as soon as they appear, while as a veil create a protective aura around the person and tell their story without words.

We at Felt Nomad studio believe in magic that is now called “slow-fashion” probalby. That is simply the personalisation and respect towards our clothes and accessories that are made of great quality, natural materials with excellent craftsmanship in our best interest, and therefore serves us for decades.

With our experience and your guidance we can build a hat for you that best expresses your personality and visualises your story, as all our stories are different. Our practice as an artist will serve to find the best colour and material choices to emphasise your physical appearance and reflect your internal uniqueness in a hat that will last you forever. We believe this is the base of making an item magical and significant, this is how it becomes meaningful beyond its surface.
